I have networked my computers via a cross over eithernet cord and ran the Windows XP network wizard on them both. I also installed the IPX protocol on them both and have spent the last 4 hours trying to get a LAN game going over UDP and IPX without any success. When I create a game I can't see it from the other PC. Only firewalls on the PCs are Windows SP2 Firewall and its disabled on them both.
Oh yeah, and they're both running Starcraft Brood Wars 1.13f.
the cd key is my only reason but then with sc u can play online with both cd keys at once so lan shouldnt be a problem. why dot u just use a router or a hub
I'm having this same problem, and i'm thinking *my* problem may be the lack of a NIC on my second computer... I'll let you know if i get it up and running in a day or two... until then - I feel your frustration.
test the wire somehow to see if its working, send a few files over each other or check the ip address oh wait thats only if you have router nvm. Anyway maybe its your wire, did you restart your computer?
Use this utility to make sure they are both running on the same port. Its called TCPview, and lets you view all the network connections that are currently active.
I would rather use netstat, and its okay anyway. Girlfriend figured out the problem, I was at the select map screen and thought that was the game, but you have to select map and hit ok before the the game shows up. Thanks anyways guys.
