Hypothetically, if one was a finalist, can one vote for one's own idea, or is one required to abstain from voting altogether?

If one wanted to be viewed as conceited, arrogant & cheap, then sure.

So there would be no penalty for one voting for one's own idea aside from everyone else thinking one is vain.
Glad that's cleared up.

Sigh, I can't vote for just one...
I like 1, 7, and 8...
1 is something that makes sense to me, but doesnt add anything to the game.
7 adds something new, which is increased production at a cost of mineral gathering, because any scv in a building is not gathering resources.
8 adds a unique increase in resource gathering for each race.
I like those... 1 belongs in the game along with something else, in my opinion. 7 or 8, or 7 and 8.
I just cant pick one :-(
I require additional reputation.

I feel the most of the best solutions are generally the simplest.
Also: when does the poll close?

Nahhh, if you think your idea is the best then it's fine to vote for it.

So, let's see:
- This mechanic was forged from pure Fail conjured forth by the Fail Lords in the Temple of Epic Fail from the Plane of Elemental Fail!
- An interesting idea, but I'm not sure how well that would play out in practice.
- I'm concerned that it will degenerate into "standard play": a single answer that is the mathematically correct one to follow. Also, there are concerns about being able to have 3+ geysers that never run dry.
- Not bad. Different from Mechanic 2 in that it requires more workers on gas. The units would have to have their costs rebalanced to make it work though.
- Not sure I like the idea of having to set workers to this; workers once you're past the basic saturation point on minerals will often switch what patches they're working on. It would need to be something you set on the mineral patch itself.
- Not race-balanced. Favors the Protoss, since they don't lose workers when they build things; they can quickly take a probe off of helping the gas to build something, then come back.
- Again, not race-balanced, for the same reason.
- Cute. Not sure about how this will be balanced.
- A functioning mechanic, but it's more of a one-shot thing. You'd use it when it's going to gain you a sudden advantage, like killing your opponent. So it's mostly a 1-time thing; it doesn't create a continuous macromanagement tasks.
- I'm not sure I fully understand the mechanics of this one. It's rather complicated.
To me, the best ones are 2, 4, and 8, with honorable mentions going to 3, 5, and 9. As for my vote, it's going with 4.

Is there a poll for worst ideas? I’d vote for all ten. Ok, maybe for nine with a half: I can’t express how disappointed I’m…

Should have sent in your own then. And if you did, they should have been good

There appears to be a smurf in your forum.

soo...
looks like about 80% of them are about changing the rate that the workers mine resources.
the idea that removes the limit on workers in gas is interesting,
however it changes gas from linear growth to exponential, which throws a wrench into the idea that the linear quality of gas gathering is a major incentive to expand (for more gas geysers) so that you get a multiplied effect on your gas intake.
Otherwise, the metagame will be based solely on army size/unit mix for deciding expansion.
To me, all of the resource gathering changes are not very interesting.
I liked the idea about using workers to help create units; the supervised building one.
My favorite of course was #1, which rewards skilled players, while still accommodating zombies who press 3 keys to make their army.
The only thing i was worried about with idea #1 was that the 10% might be a bit steep for cost/build time. maybe something like 2.5% or 5%
Im confident blizzard could adjust that should it be chosen.

I think a "none of the above" option should exist for all polls....
