- Gabriel Tosh is there. He’s a Ghost who’s been said to of trained in the ghost academy with Nova (from SC: Ghost), so he’s likely a crossover from that game.(Also, Metzen mentioned during the Lore Panel that Nova will probably be making an appearance during SC2. - They brought the jukebox but not the Hydra skull? Boo-urns.

Bunker upgrade:

- Cost: 4.0 mil
- Capacity: 4(+2)
- Integrity: 400

- Range bonus: +1
(The so-called “Jumbo” bunker design uses high density armored walls to save more room inside for additional infantry without increasing the overall bunker profile. While ordinary bunkers can house a maximum of four infantry, Jumbo bunkers can be occupied by up to six infantry in fortified comfort.)

Marine Stimpacks:

- Cost: 3.0 mil
- Movement speed: +50%
- Attack speed: +50%
- Health cost per activation: -10
- Duration: 5 seconds
(Stimpacks are a chemical delivery system built into marine combat. Activating the Stimpack doses the marine with a powerful mix of synthetic adrenaline, endorphins, and a psychotropic aggression enhancer. Marines on stims benefit from greatly increased speed and reflexes, but at a cost of exhaustion in the short term.)

(Matt Horner is another figure in the Terran campaign, a ship captain who's straitlaced and heroic, kind of a good angel on Raynor's shoulder as opposed to the bad influences of Tosh and Tychus. Horner is a young guy, but they wanted him to be very military, so they borrowed inspiration from old fascist uniforms.)

(Tosh is an arms dealer on Raynor's ship -- he's a rough Jamaican dude with a sniper rifle. He's got a connection to another popular Starcraft character, Nova, who was meant to be the main character of the canceled Starcraft: Ghost game. Metzen described him as a Boba Fett-type character, "although," he said, "Boba Fett wasn't really used that well anyway.")
Gabriel Tosh has some connection to Nova from his days in the Ghost Academy. He will feature in the comic novel of the same title. He is a representation of Raynor`s "evil side".

Valerian Mengsk

(Valerian Mengsk, son of Starcraft's famous Arturus Mengsk, also gives some missions to Raynor as he goes along on the Terran campaign. Arturus, says Metzen, is pretty much lost -- he's leading the Dominion, he's got too much history with Raynor to be a part of the campaign. But Valerian is not quite sold on his father's empire, and he's willing to deal with Raynor... for now.)

Dr. Ariel Hanson

(Dr. Hanson is a "Dr. Lady with glasses (so she looks really cute)," said Chambers -- originally she was designed to be a male citizen kind of person (someone the player just helps to make their way through the campaign), but they moved on to try and make Jim Raynor (Starcraft's protagionist) a sort of romantic interest. (As much of a romantic interest as a hard-bitten mercenary can have, anyway.)

Swann

(Rory Swann is the ship's engineer, a rough and tumble New York accented guy who's running Raynor's ship (the main hub for most of the Terran missions). Raynor got the ship in the Starcraft novel the Queen of Blades, and Swann is the real soul of the vehicle that flies around the universe at faster-than-light. They showed off 3D renders of all the characters, used in the ingame cinematics. They aren't quite as good as the actual prerendered cinematic models, but they did look good. And Chambers told us that they could actually use the models in a game, if shrunken down to match the size of the RTS designs.)
Swan is a former Kel-Morian worker who led an unsuccesfull revolt. Although he lost his arm, he was saved by Jim Raynor. Since then, he has been a part of the Hyperion crew as the main engineer, trying to keep together the decaying ship.

Tychus Findley

(Tychus Findlay is an old buddy of Raynor's -- we saw him in the cinematics shown at the gameplay panel yesterday. He's important as a key to Raynor's past (he and Raynor were "thick as thieves," before Findlay went to jail and Raynor became a marshall on a far-out planet). Plus, said Chambers, "we can show a big chunky guy in marine armor. Which is important to us." Metzen realized with regret that when it comes to Starcraft names, they're usually dependent on just a few letters: "It's either A or T names with us. Dammit!")
Tychus Findlay covered for Raynor and ensured his freedom by going to prison. He represents what Raynor could have become if things had gone diffrently.

-BTW how were banelings and lurkers?

-Holy shit I love banelings. They destroy everything but are really weak, like 40hp. So you have to send them in with meat shields, but they destroy static defenses and large units easily.
Lurkers also destroyed. Since they are lower tier you can get them faster. Literally 2 lurkers can take out 15 marines in like 3 seconds and they deal bonus to armored, to tanks are basically dead.

-Banelings can really make a huge impact for the battle and completely tip the scales for you.


-How did you feel about the Roaches and Banelings being mineral only units, and how do you think it will change the Zerg's early game?

-I thought it was awesome if your Zerg... you can basically mass lings, roaches... like zerg is supposed to!
Roaches arent as tough as they were made out to be, but their beefed lings with short range.


-Could you please tell us some more about the protoss air units such as Phoenix, Void ray and Carriers. How they are used and just how good they are, and also in which way is the carrier different from what it was in SC1?

-Phoenix was ok, it can only attack air so its only good against smaller air units. Warp Ray is good at destroying massive units and buildings/defenses. Carrier is still the exact same boring unit from Sc1.


-I noticed that the zerg were falling en masse to those stalkers from the sonkie and yellow but i don't think they were using the appropriate counters. What is the zerg equivalent to a counter for the stalkers? i'm thinking a mass of roaches or even hydras but i'm not sure.

-Since stalkers do bonus damage to armored, dont go roaches. I would probably go hydras, banelings, infestors.


-Does the sensor tower still show enemy units in the fog?

-Yes the Sensor tower still shows enemy units in the fog, but It does not show/tell what unit it is, it simply shows a red indicator. In fact, the sensor tower is a very good building to have at each base, they are more useful than you think.
But the downside is, if your multiplayer opponent stumbles into one of your Sensor Towers, they are able to see the detection radius of that Sensor Tower, allowing them to avoid detection if necessary.


-What can u say boyz about ULTRALISK? On one screenshot it is BIG BADASS enlarged model? What about it's abilities? About costs? Can Ultralisk survive nuclear blast?

The Ultralisk is a gigantic problem for your opponent. They only have 1 passive ability and that is Chitinous Plating, which adds extra armor. I had 3 Ultralisks take out a base expansion by themselves, they are mega awesome Zerg units.
The only problem is is that they are one of the highest tier's and of course they only attack ground units.
Also I'm not sure if they can still survive a nuke, their HP is 600. And I have not a clue if they still have AoE damage.

Wow, I never used to be worried about MBS, but after hearing how easy it is to mass rines, it seems like it's "casualizing" macro too much.

It's easily balancable though... they even said if he had lurkers hew would have been able to hold em off. I take that to mean that he could have easily had lurkers by that point in the game.


I <3 BF I musta checked the site every 20 minutes while it was down.

Im pretty excited. I'll finally be able to play z cuz my macro wont be horrible!!!!

Woah! Did anyone notice in the 1st part of the bridge demo when raynor goes down into the cantina that Sc:Ghost is playing on the moniter?


EDIT: Err...I see now that Carsickness already pointed it out in the original post =/. Still very cool though

So if you look at THIS video of Terran's 3rd mission you can actually see the "artifact" from the previous mission sitting in the back of the dump truck (I like to call it the "roadrunner" since it's got a picture of one on the side). The artifact is actually pulsing some sort of light too.

This, of course, is different from the previous screenshots we've seen of the roadrunner, where there's nothing in the back:

So i'm thinking that the first 3 missions are going to play out a little something like this:
  1. Raynor goes back to Mar Sara with the "road runner" to strip his favourite bar and retro fit it on the Hyperion.
  2. Tychus catches up with Raynor and they both go to get the artifact near by.
  3. The one we've seen where Tychus and Raynor must survive long enough for the Hyperion to pick them up.
