Yeah I was waiting for that trailer sooo long, every fucking day I checked the avpgalaxy.net site for updates and it finally got out.

I assume they're going for the biological weapon aspect of the original Alien monster. Apparently the higher life from (space jockeys?) created the Alien as a plague of sorts. That would explain the machined pods that mimic the alien eggs. Perhaps the Aliens were once incubated in those and evolved to the point of laying eggs? I'm just riffing here....

To be fair, saying that Prometheus isn't a prequel to Alien is like saying that Get him to the Greek wasn't a sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Prometheus is apparently going to tell the story of the Space Jockeys who were the goliath beings in the beginning of Alien. Although this is still conjecture, it hasn't been refuted to my knowledge.

I saw alot people misunderstanding that
This movie is a prequel to Aliens, it creates a base on which the Alien movie was set up. There are no Xenomorphs and this is the main reason why Ridley does not want it to be called an Alien prequel, other than that we have the WY Corp, Space Jockeys, lv240 planet and the distress signal from the Prometheus ship sent in the end of the movie which will draw the nostromo crew on lv240 planet because of company's orders (my theory, very hard based on facts from the original movie).
In my opinion Prometheus is a movie very strongly related to the events of Alien, it is set in time before the original movie which started the series and yes it is a Prequel

You mentioned Space Jockeys in the very same post. How am I wrong? I've seen the trailer, there are obvious artifacts and man-made pods the mimic the pods from the original films. These are likely creations of the Space Jockeys, although that's still very much unclear.

from what I saw on the avpgalaxy.net forums and what does make sense, the Spacey Jockey are going to be completly absent through out the movie, there will be 3 or 4 stasis pods with them (which you actually can catch in the trailer movie; part with the star systems) in the middle of the movie or nearing the end one of them or all of them will be awaken.

This movie is going to be about the human mutation and becoming an engineer of the original xeno.

Well....yes, but the Space Jockeys will still be a central piece of the story. That's all that I meant. I wasn't implying that they were going to be characters or anything....although I can see why you might assume that's what I meant. In relation to the original films, they will be a much larger part of the story surrounding the film.
