If your merc gets the kill, it takes your total MF and adds it to your merc total MF.
If you get the kill, your mercs equip is not taken into effect.

Should I use blade of Ali Baba for MF? Shadow told me items that have 'extra gold' as well as MF can get in the way of MF cuz they make monsters drop more money.

Alibaba and gull daggers with a good MF shield are excellent switches to make the kill blow on an opponent. Alibaba/gull can add a good 100% more mf to your total if you dont use mf gear regularly.

As for gold find, it has no bearing on magic find.

Nah... I use them myself.

I use my sorc for MF:

- 1 Skulder's Ire with a perfect topaz in it
- 35 mf amulet
- 22 ring
- 15 ring
- ali baba gives me 77
- 20 mf shield
- 30 mf boots
- 25 mf gloves

I need charms and a good helmet.


Any other tips for mfing? I mostly do meph runs, but sometiems I die and sometimes it takes long to find lvl 3. Are there any patterns to durance of hate, or is it randomly generated?

Randomly generated, and MUCH bigger in Hell than it ever was before (more chances to die for bots, and for you :P ).

As for MF, it peaks at about 250-300, then it gets so little % increase thats it's pretty much no use getting more. You should probably just have more powerful equip (it's up to you to see what you can spare and what you can't).

I used something similar on my Sorc except I used a Blade of Ali Baba (Gull until I could Ist them) and War Travs. Can't remember the armour though

Hell Pindle
Hell Shenk & The blue guy on top of the hill (:P forgot his name)

Once you get a hammerdin MF character (doesnt take long if you trade) you can expand your runs to this...

Hell Andy
Hell Countess (key + runes)
Hell Summoner (key)
Hell Mephisto (he dies in 2 seconds I swear)
Hell Diablo (optional, its long and somewhat hard)
Hell Nilithak (very hard in respects to any character)
Hell Shenk and blue guy.

I find it surprising that you're having problems with Hell Meph, he is the most consistent monster that drops good items for me. Whenever I did Hell Baal runs, he would rarely drop any elite items

Also 'The Pit' in Hell Act 1 (outside the Cathedral) is lvl 95 (or something like that) in monster level so all items (bar Annihlus and spcial items) can drop in there. It's also very nice for experience

Nihlathak is very hard? I haven't died once to him with my MF Zon...I actually have more trouble with the monsters in the place because some are LI. A well-placed Fury in Nihlathak's room = gg

He's not hard to kill, but if your within like half a screen of a corpse and he CE's you, you're dead.

The main problem with nilithak is that he can teleport to where you cant see him. This is bad. With my hammerdin, when he teleports outside my range I teleport out of there ASAP.

When that happens I teleport to the edge, flick on my redemption and kill off ALL the mobs in the room, and watch thier bodies go poof.
